Additional Permit Options
In addition to annual permits and visitor permits, certain individuals or departments may request a permit that best accommodates specific duties on campus.
- Volunteer Parking Permits
The following requirements must be met in order to qualify for a Volunteer Parking Permit:
- The volunteer cannot be employed by the University of Northern Colorado, nor an enrolled student.
- The volunteer cannot have any other parking permit issued for the same academic year.
- The volunteer must provide essential duties to the department with which he or she is volunteering.
- The volunteer must frequently work with campus department or entity.
- The volunteer must have an upstanding history with Parking Services. Parking Services will take into account citation history and any past violations of Parking Rules and Regulations.
If the volunteer meets all qualifications, a permit request will need to be sent to the Director and Operations Manager of Parking Services with the volunteer’s name, vehicle information and the location and times in which the volunteer will be working on campus. The use of the Volunteer Parking Permit will be limited to the lots and times necessary for the volunteer to do his or her job.
Abuse of the Volunteer Parking Permit will result in revocation of permit for the remainder of the academic year. If the volunteer is caught using another Volunteer Parking Permit as a result of previous revocation, the additional permit will be revoked as well. The department may request a Volunteer Parking Permit for this person the following academic year if eligible.
- Service Parking Permits
The following requirements must be met in order to qualify for a Service Parking Permit:
- The requisitioner must provide essential duties to the university. Typical examples of these duties include: plumbing, elevator repair, IT repair, and Dining/Catering.
- The requisitioner must provide these essential duties frequently.
- The requisitioner must have an upstanding history with Parking Services. Parking Services will take into account citation history and any past violations of Parking Rules and Regulations.
If the requisitioner meets all qualifications and has received approval from his or her direct supervisor or department head, a written request will need to be sent to the Director and Operations Manager of Parking Services with vehicle information and the reasons for which a Service Parking Permit is needed.
The Service Parking Permit is not to be used on a “normal,” daily basis or as an “upgrade” to a regular permit holder’s uses. Issuance of this permit does not give approval to drive on sidewalks or stop in non-designated parking spaces. Misuse of this permit can result in immediate termination of its validity. This permit remains the property of UNC Parking Services at all times and must be returned to Parking Services upon request.
- Special Parking Permits
Special Permits are to be issued at the discretion of Parking Services. A written request must be sent to the Director and Operations Manager of Parking Services with vehicle information, the reasons for which a Special Permit is needed, and the location and times in which the Special Permit is needed. The use of the Special Permit will be limited to the lots and times necessary for the volunteer to do his or her job.
Misuse of the Special Parking Permit will result in immediate termination of its validity.
- Board of Trustees Parking Permits
The Board of Trustees Permit allows Board of Trustees members to more easily locate parking when attending Board of Trustees meetings. This permit is intended to be used for regularly scheduled and specially announced Board of Trustees meetings. Issuance of this permit does not give approval to drive on sidewalks or stop in non-designated parking spaces. This permit is not to be used on a "normal," daily basis, or as an "upgrade" to a regular permit.
If the permit is found outside of its intended usage, the owner of the permit will be subjected to possible revocation of permit.
